Will the stone stain if I spill something on it?

To avoid damage, stains or discolouration to your stone, clean up spills immediately. Do not use any hair dyes in your stone shower, stone basins or on vanity tops - this will stain!

Will the stone crack or split with age?

Generally stone will not crack or split with age. If stone has cracked then it is most likely due to movement within the substrate or expansion in the floor itself. It is important that in large areas sufficient expansion joints are allowed for and that decoupling membranes are used to help prevent cracking. Some materials such as heavily veined marbles or travertine will be more susceptible to cracking and pitting in heavy traffic areas and are best avoided. Externally it is important that materials are frost resistant as water entering the stone can freeze and expand causing tiles to crack.

Can you produce stone skirtings to match floors?

Absolutely - we would encourage our clients to complete large areas of stone flooring with matching stone skirtings, to add that extra finishing touch of elegance and beauty.

Do you sell off-cuts of stone?

Following every project there is usually some degree of waste material referred to as off cuts. Useable pieces are stored and are available for sale. Please contact us with your requirements to see if any of our off cuts are suitable for your project.

Do you cut the stone in your factory or on-site?

We undertake as much cutting and stone working as possible within our factory prior to stone being delivered to site. Sometimes it is necessary to adjust and cut stone on site though this is kept to a minimum to reduce noise and dust.

How much does your stone cost?

Each project is unique and we price on a project-by-project basis in order to give you the most accurate cost for your particular project. We do not give standard rates or set prices per metre as this would give you an inaccurate basis for your budget.

Material pricing and availability fluctuates every week which means that the price per metre rates can be mis-leading. We make sure that when we give you a price for your project, it is accurate.

Is natural stone difficult to maintain?

Natural stone requires maintenance just like any natural material. If cared for properly, the stone will last forever. Which stone is most suitable for kitchen worktops?

Hard wearing materials are best suited for use on kitchen worktops. Granite and manmade quartz stone are typically the best materials to use. Marble and limestone are generally unsuitable because they are softer and more susceptible to staining and wear even with careful maintenance. There are some exceptions to these rules such as Carrara which is a hard marble often used on counter tops. At New Image Stone you can be safe in the knowledge that we will only ever offer materials that are fit for purpose.

Is natural stone suitable for outdoor applications?

Yes, natural stones make a fabulous addition to outside space. There are natural stones available for paving and cladding as well as for outdoor swimming pools and spa areas.

What cleaning products should I use?

We recommend you use a chamois leather or e-cloth on your granite regularly to keep the stone clean and retain a polished finish. Only use non-abrasive cleaners on your stone.
